Ping Kongklom

Born 1976, Nakhon Nayok Province, Thailand

Ping Kongklom is a contemporary Thai artist whose practice spans both painting and sculpture, exploring social realities and the people who shape them. He is regarded as one of Thailand’s notable abstract artists. He has developed a special type of mixed media, comprising acrylic paint, metallic particles, and clay, allowing him to create textures that conventional materials cannot achieve.

Artist’s comment:
"I choose to be an abstract painter because the subject of my work is the nature of reality. It is my belief that there is no objective reality but rather a multiplicity of realities depending on who is perceiving the environmental stimuli and the circumstances of the time and place. Although the form of my work are non-representational, the form themselves and the manner of their relationship are deliberately ambiguous. I try to make this work in space a delightful experience of colour and movement and at the same time an opportunity to reflect on who and where we are."
